ADHD assessment overview

Our ADHD assessment is an intricate and considered process that follows the NICE guidelines in line with the NHS.

We assess children and adults, and consider the full holistic picture of each individual including historical experiences, upbringing, and potential current symptoms.

  • Pre-assessment - To begin you will complete a set of self-assessment questionnaires. If the results indicate a low probability of diagnosis you will be refunded in full.

  • Assessment appointment - All of our assessments are conducted by one of our fully qualified doctors of psychology. The assessment appointment typically lasts 2 hours at our Glasgow or Edinburgh clinic, and can also be held online if appropriate.

  • Post-assessment - Your outcome will be shared in a clear, comprehensive and supportive report tailored to your assessment. Depending on the outcome you may be provided with specific guidance on management strategies, therapy or onward care.

  • Onward care - In addition to our in-house GP we have a partnership with a Psychiatrist who can support with shared care arrangements and/or medication where appropriate.

Our full ADHD assessment & report is £995.

We offer interest-free payment plans through Klarna, and you will be refunded in full if your pre-assessments indicate a low probability of diagnosis.

Our Reputation

We’ve been delivering the highest standard of assessments for close to 2 years and we’re proud to have a full 5 star rating on google. Here are some of the things our clients have said about us…

I don’t use the phrase often, but my experience with Fraser and MAPP has been life changing. I shall forever be thankful.
When I went in for my assessment I felt comfortable & able to talk openly about what I had been struggling with for the last 35 years! I felt heard properly for the first time in my life - I have been treated for anxiety since I was 14, to find out at 45 I have ADHD completely re framed my entire perspective on my mental state - everything makes sense now - I can stop searching for the “why” & start focusing on the “how”. I can’t recommend MAPP psychology enough.
The idea of an ADHD assessment can feel very overwhelming and unsettling but the empathy and professionalism exhibited by both doctors that I dealt with was very much appreciated.
Friendly and professional. Always helpful, attentive and caring.
My whole experience with MAPP was professional and incredibly helpful. From the booking process to working with my psychologist. The whole process was brilliant.
I was given help and advice throughout the entire process which made me feel comfortable in taking the leap to getting assessed privately. I am so glad that I did. I couldn’t recommend MAPP highly enough.
My ADHD assessment with Dr Lorenzen was a very cathartic experience and the first time I’ve felt really listened to. The time allocated felt like a luxury; it provided me with a safe space to really say how I felt and dig deep about past experiences and how they are currently affecting me. Dr Lorenzen is a warm and patient man and I felt understood by him.
I had my assessment with Dr Amirah Khan. She made me feel so welcome and at ease during the whole process. I have now finally came to terms with my symptoms and can now explore treatment options. This has been a life changing event for me and i can now be at peace with myself and get on with life.

Our assessment process

At MAPP Psychology we’re committed to providing our clients with the most thorough ADHD assessments available either in person or online. Our process follows the NICE guidelines in line with the NHS and is carefully designed to ensure clarity, precision & depth - helping us diagnose ADHD with the highest degree of accuracy.

  • Our team of expert psychologists specialise in understanding, assessing and diagnosing ADHD.

Each psychologist holds advanced doctorate degrees in psychology and has undergone extensive training in assessing ADHD.

They stay up to date with the latest research and diagnostic criteria related to ADHD to ensure our assessments adhere to the highest standards of clinical practice.

  • We understand the importance of creating a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere for ADHD assessments.

Our rooms are thoughtfully designed to provide a calming environment where you can feel at ease throughout the assessment process.

Our team of psychologists are not only highly qualified and experienced but friendly and approachable. They take the time to build rapport with clients, fostering a trusting relationship that allows for open communication and collaboration.

From the moment you step into our office you'll be greeted with a smile and treated with empathy and respect.

  • We follow the NICE guidelines (in line with the NHS) and employ a variety of psychometric tests designed to assess various aspects of ADHD symptoms and related difficulties.

These tests are carefully selected based on their validity, reliability, and sensitivity to ADHD-related impairments.

Our psychometric tools include measures of attention, executive functioning, impulsivity, and hyperactivity, among others.

Psychometric testing provides an objective and standardised way to measure ADHD symptoms, allowing for a more accurate and reliable assessment compared to subjective observations alone.

We understand that ADHD presents differently in each individual and can coexist with other conditions, such as learning disabilities or mood disorders.

  • We believe in a comprehensive approach to ADHD assessment that goes beyond just observation.

Our assessment procedure involves a thorough verbal interview that provides a platform for you to express your experiences and challenges.

Additionally, we value the insights provided by loved ones and family members, recognising the unique perspectives they can bring on your behaviour and functioning.

This collateral information from family members or close associates is integrated into our assessment process, offering a holistic view of symptoms and their impact on daily life.

By combining a full verbal assessment with collateral information we establish a clear understanding of the extent of any potential ADHD diagnosis, ensuring the assessment is holistic, thorough, accurate, and reflective of your lived experience.

Our reporting process

At MAPP Psychology our commitment to your wellbeing extends beyond the assessment itself. We’ve developed a personalised reporting process designed to share your outcome in a format that is clear, practical & supportive - serving as an important resource in your journey toward managing ADHD effectively.

  • Transparency and clarity are paramount in our ADHD assessment process.

Our assessment reports provide a clear and concise summary of our findings, ensuring that you and your family have a comprehensive understanding of the assessment outcome.

In cases where ADHD is diagnosed, our report clearly communicates this diagnosis, outlining the specific symptoms and criteria met.

We provide detailed explanations of how these symptoms manifest in your behaviour and functioning, as well as the potential impact on various aspects of your life including education, work, and relationships.

Our goal is to empower you with the knowledge and understanding you need to navigate your ADHD diagnosis effectively, offering guidance and support every step of the way.

  • We recognise that everyone’s experience with ADHD is unique, influenced by a myriad of factors including personality, environment, and personal history.

That's why our approach to ADHD assessments and reports is deeply personalised and subjective.

Our psychologists take the time to build rapport with you, fostering a trusting relationship that allows for open communication and collaboration throughout the assessment process.

By listening to your perspectives and experiences we ensure our reports reflect the nuances of your ADHD symptoms and the impact they have on your daily life.

  • If you are diagnosed with ADHD, we will equip you with practical tools and strategies to navigate the associated challenges.

In addition to outlining any potential diagnosis, our reports offer a wealth of suggestions and coping strategies customised to your specific needs and circumstances.

These strategies may encompass techniques for improving attention and focus, managing impulsivity, enhancing organisational skills and fostering self-regulation.

By providing a tailored set of strategies, our goal is to empower you to effectively manage your symptoms and optimise your functioning in various domains of life.

  • We have both an in-house GP and a partnership with a leading Glasgow based Psychiatrist to provide support where necessary.

Our in-house GP can provide a cover letter in sharing your assessment report with you GP to support the diagnosis.

Our partner Pyschiatrist can support with shared care arrangements with your GP including medication where necessary.
