What is grief and bereavement?

  • If you’re dealing with bereavement you have lost a close friend or loved one, while grief can be more broadly defined as a response to loss which can include the loss of a relationship.

  • Losing a loved one or relationship can be one of the most difficult times in anyone’s life. The bond you shared with them and the relationship you had are hard to process on your own. Any moment you attempt to reflect on your time with them, you may find it overwhelming.

  • Some of the most common symptoms of loss are a feeling of numbness, fatigue, guilt, paranoia, and persistent sadness.

  • These can be managed if you take the right steps, yet they can lead to more severe mental health problems if not dealt with.

How can MAPP help?

  • Talking therapies are the most effective way for you to deal with the symptoms of grief and/or bereavement.

  • Undertaking a therapeutic intervention helps you process difficult emotions and steer toward positive behaviours.

  • We offer courses such as person-centred therapy (PCT) and compassion-focused therapy (CFT), which will allow you to go through the grief process with support.

  • Other interventions like mindfulness can aid you in being present with the loss.

What results can you expect?

  • Whichever programme is offered, you will be with people who know how difficult this moment in your life is.

  • Taking that first step toward a counselling centre is often the most difficult one.

  • We want you to be with us during this time of loss, and we are ready to help you talk about your relationship and find a positive path forward.

The MAPP approach to therapy

Each of our psychologists is fully trained and qualified, bringing a wealth of experience to the table.

They take the time to really listen, getting to know you and what you're going through, so they can shape an approach that actually fits your life - not a generic one-size-fits-all model.

They will work with you to make practical real life changes that help you move into a happier, healthier place.

Sessions start at £95 with a fully trained therapist and £130 with one of our fully qualified expert psychologists.
