What is health anxiety?

  • Health anxiety is a condition where you constantly worry about whether you’re ill. It’s also known as hypochondria and can derail your wellbeing if it goes untreated.

  • Health anxiety can lead you to develop fears around food, the outdoors, and a host of other social activities, making life an isolated experience.

  • Physical symptoms can also become apparent in severe cases and these can include weight and hair loss, fatigue, and bouts of nausea.

  • The thoughts that surround illness can sometimes stop you from living your life, and as a result your job, personal relationships, and motivation may suffer.

How can MAPP help?

  • Our professional therapists are experts in the most well-research treatment methods available.

  • Your wellbeing and interests are taken into consideration when choosing a therapeutic path which may include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and/or dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) to help identify your triggers and allow you to work through them.

What results can you expect?

  • Whichever therapy is recommended, we will work with you to develop confidence in dealing with any persistent health concerns.

  • Taking the first step toward therapy is often the hardest, but we’re here to make it as easy as possible.

  • Your path to a more positive life starts here, and we want to work closely with you to achieve this.

At MAPP, therapy starts with you.

Your psychologist takes the time to listen, then builds a plan around your goals and circumstances.

What makes that possible is the depth & range of training and experience our doctors of psychology bring to the table. Our psychologists are trained in a broad span of therapy modalities, from CBT and ACT to compassion-focused therapy, person-centred therapy and everything in between.

We fit the approach to you, not you to the approach, and regular check-ins keep it working as your needs change.

We're committed to giving you the support and tools you need to build towards a happier, healthier life.
