What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the practice of being in the present moment, aware of all bodily sensations and thoughts.
In a mindful state, individuals observe their thoughts without indulging in negative behaviours.
Mindfulness can alleviate addictive behaviours.
Practising mindfulness during therapy may be difficult at first as it requires you to simply sit with your thoughts rather than act upon them.
How can MAPP help?
Observing negative thoughts without indulging them can be difficult, especially if you’re prone to anxiety or stress.
We have a number of psychologists with expertise in the practice of mindfulness, and they can help you become expert too.
They take the time to really listen, and to gain a deep understanding of your specific needs before anything else.
Can therapy support mindfulness?
Over time you will become accustomed to practising mindfulness.
Therapies such as person-centred therapy (PCT) and acceptance commitment therapy (ACT) cultivate the act of becoming mindful of one’s present state of mind.
As you become mindful through meditation and observation, you can better understand the root of unwanted behaviours.
What results can you expect?
If you’re recommended a course of mindfulness, whether as a standalone treatment or part of an integrative approach, you’ll begin to see the results quickly.
After around eight weeks of treatment, you will notice how you can look at thoughts or worries without them interfering with your mental welfare.
Mindfulness is great for anyone who struggles with anxiety issues or stressful situations.
Promoting a mindful state will aid you in your career as you will be able to cope with difficulty better.
The MAPP approach to therapy
Each of our psychologists is fully trained and qualified, bringing a wealth of experience to the table.
They take the time to really listen, getting to know you and what you're going through, so they can shape an approach that actually fits your life - not a generic one-size-fits-all model.
They will work with you to make practical real life changes that help you move into a happier, healthier place.
Sessions start at £95 with a fully trained therapist and £130 with one of our fully qualified expert psychologists.
