What is PCT?
Person Centred Therapy (PCT) is a form of psychotherapy developed primarily in the 1950s by the psychoanalyst Carl Rogers. At its core, PCT is a talking therapy in which the client will have the opportunity to self-reflect on life scenarios they would not usually think over.
The reason why PCT is so effective is that it relies on three core conditions.
The first is congruence which advocates transparency of the therapist.
Secondly, there must be a state of unconditional positive regard from the therapist toward the client. A therapist offering unconditional positive regard will sit and attentively listen to the problems of a client without unneeded interruption.
The final condition that must be present is empathy, and this is essential for a client as it will help them communicate freely.
How can MAPP help?
Our therapy centre is welcoming and non-judgemental. PCT relies upon a strong trust bond between the psychologist and client. Without this it’s difficult to obtain the three core conditions that PCT needs in order to be impactful.
Our psychologists have a wealth of experience and understand the challenges that clients may face.
Once you have made the step to begin therapy, you can begin to develop critical coping mechanisms that will lead you toward a brighter future.
Self-awareness, practical management skills, and accountability all come through therapies like PCT.
We offer professionally-guided training to help you use these key coping mechanisms throughout your day. One of our major aims at MAPP Psychology is to give you the right tools to build a better life.
What results can you expect?
PCT facilitates personal growth, creates sustainable management for anxiety, increases openness, and helps clients better understand their personal experiences.
If these are some of the reasons you’re considering therapy, then PCT could be the answer.
As with all our types of therapy, we put the client’s needs first and offer them the best advice possible.
Here at MAPP Psychology we’re ready to work alongside you to help you deal with your greatest personal difficulties.
The MAPP approach to therapy
Each of our psychologists is fully trained and qualified, bringing a wealth of experience to the table.
They take the time to really listen, getting to know you and what you're going through, so they can shape an approach that actually fits your life - not a generic one-size-fits-all model.
They will work with you to make practical real life changes that help you move into a happier, healthier place.
Sessions start at £95 with a fully trained therapist and £130 with one of our fully qualified expert psychologists.
