What is stress?
Stress is a common psychological pain that refers to pressure and strain.
When you’re under pressure, it can feel like the odds are stacked against you and you can’t catch a break - it changes how your life looks and feels.
If someone describes themselves as being stressed, they are likely feeling pressure from work, a relationship, concern for the future or something outside of their control, like a natural disaster.
Excessive stress levels can increase the risk of heart attack and stroke, so it is important to regulate stress. Psychological symptoms of stress include anxiety, the potential development of disorders, and depression.
If someone has a pre-existing condition, then stress can act as a trigger to it becoming present.
How can MAPP help?
Psychological interventions like talking therapy and mindfulness can be the healthiest ways to manage stress.
Interventions like cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) allow you to take an action-based approach to any stress you suffer.
Our key aim through therapy is to provide you with the tools to maintain a positive state of mental well-being long after you’ve left the therapeutic process.
Therapy will help you control your stress, meaning you can invest more energy into yourself and your loved ones.
What results can you expect?
Through talking therapies such as CBT and DBT you can strategise ways to manage your emotions more effectively and understand what is outside of your control.
Mindfulness can help you sustain a state of presence.
The first step toward therapy is often the hardest, and we want to make this as easy as possible.
We’re ready to build a brighter future with you.
The MAPP approach to therapy
Each of our psychologists is fully trained and qualified, bringing a wealth of experience to the table.
They take the time to really listen, getting to know you and what you're going through, so they can shape an approach that actually fits your life - not a generic one-size-fits-all model.
They will work with you to make practical real life changes that help you move into a happier, healthier place.
Sessions start at £95 with a fully trained therapist and £130 with one of our fully qualified expert psychologists.
